Woah, it's already Monday? How was everyone's weekend? Mine... well it was pretty busy. Photoshop actually kept me busy. I haven't really done any serious compositing (creating one final image from several different images) since summer and this weekend I decided to dive right into it. The best part about compositing and also the worst part is it almost never turns out how your plan it. If you know me, then you know I'm quite the planner! I usually bullet point all the details I want an image/concept to have and I sometimes even draw it up or I have an idea in my head of exactly what it will look like. I go to shoot all the elements that I know I will be using to make the final image and sometimes it just doesn't work how I envisioned or a better idea comes to mind... or I'm in the editing room (Photoshop) and it just doesn't mesh well together, so I think of some other way to use what I've got. Basically what I'm trying to say is compositing can also take a lot of problem solving. Some of you may be going "ew gross, so it's like math?" No, it's more like a puzzle that also includes layer masks, brushes, curves, and textures. It's fun! But time consuming. It takes a lot of patience, but the best feeling is completing an image after working on it for 8 or so hours. It's taken me months to get in the mood to composite after doing it tons over this past summer, but now I'm eager to do more. I'm not sure why I ever stopped ...
Ooo, also wanted to tell everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving week! Don't worry, I'll be back plenty this week, it's just Monday and I think we're all getting antsy waiting to gorge ourselves and see family! Now, get out there and create something this holiday!
