The Grateful 15: Part 3 - Happy Thanksgiving!

Alas, Thanksgiving is here!  Last night, the biggest bar night of the year, instead of going out and having an unplanned high school reunion, I decided to stay in and help my mom out and bake a brownie pecan pie with my fiancé.  I mean, my 21 year old self never thought staying in with my family would be more fun than getting sloppy with old friends... but it was!  Getting older doesn't bother me so much... not yet anyway.  :P

With today being Thanksgiving and all, I thought it was the perfect day to end The Grateful 15.  I won't explain how it works for the third time, because I know a lot of you have already read it.  But if you haven't, definitely go check out Part 1 and Part 2!  Also, it's not too late for you to join in... it never is!  :)

  1. Family Time:  Living in Columbus now, an hour away from my family and where I call home, I don't get to see my family as much as I'd like to.  I can't just stop over to say hello, I have to make a day trip or overnight trip of it.  I must say that because of the distance, I've grown to appreciate family time much more.  I think that may be why I spend less time with my friends and more time with my family.  Don't get my wrong, I love friend time, but family is irreplaceable.
  2. Scented Candles:  Okay, so maybe I'm thankful for this all year round, but my goodness the scents that are out around this time of year are just SO good.  I can't get enough!  It's crazy how the scent from a burning candle can turn your mood around.  I instantly feel warm and cozy when I light one.  Also, my mom just gave me Yankee Candle's Cookies for Santa candle and OMG, I can't wait to burn it when I get home!  'Tis the season.  :)
  3. Good Health:  Definitely something I take for granted waaay too often.  I'm so thankful that I've spent no more than a few days at the hospital and doctors for being sick.  Being healthy and alive is such a blessing.  I think about all the things that could go wrong in your body and I'm just amazed that all my insides are working fine and I get another day here.
  4. Holidays:  This kind of relates to family time.  Since I've gotten older along with the rest of the grandkids, my extended family doesn't get together nearly enough!  I desperately miss spending every holiday, birthday, and summer vacations together.  I had a damn good childhood... I just miss it sometimes.  I am grateful for the holidays that we do still together for - Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter, some birthdays, and sometimes just because.  Those are the best days.  I'll treasure those days forever.
  5. Nail polish:  Yeah, this seems like a good one to end with... as I'm sitting here staring at my freshly painted nails that are SCENTED!  Yes, scented!  Painting my nails is something I actually enjoy... it's 15-20 minutes that I take for myself 2-3 times a week.  Being a full-time student, full-time blogger, business owner, AND having a part-time job on top of all that... I rarely have any time to do something just for me.  No time to just sit back and relax for a day.  So I seriously love taking off my chipped polish and making them look pretty again.  It's just relaxing to me!
