Date Night Ideas: Holiday Edition

One of my favorite parts about the holidays is the romance.  There's just something extraordinarily romantic about all the twinkly lights, the cold weather cuddles, the baking, the hot chocolate, and I could go on and on.  Come on, am I alone on this?  Christmas is just a really romantic holiday... even more so than Valentine's Day (in my opinion).  Austin and I always make a point to have little date nights and do our own little Christmas traditions each year and it ends up always being some of my favorite holiday memories.  With Christmas approaching quickly, we're running a bit low on time to do some of our favorite Christmas activities together, so while I'm planning on what we should do this year, I thought I'd share with you all some great ideas to a perfect holiday themed date night!

  • Date Idea 1:  Sleep in together and spend your afternoon/evening decorating Christmas cookies and watching Christmas movies.  If you're anything like Austin and I, then you may think this is like the greatest date night idea ever.  Morning snuggles leading into the afternoon always gives me a cozy feeling!  There's nothing more that I love to wake up to than snuggles with the one I love.  Since you already started off the day with being lazy, why stop there?  Stay in your PJ's and get to decorating some Christmas cookies, grab a glass of milk, and cuddle on the couch watching your favorite Christmas movie together.
  • Date Idea 2:  Dinner and Christmas lights.  This is just a must.  If you live in Ohio then  I definitely recommend pairing up dinner at Liberty Tavern and then walking around Columbus Zoo's Wildlights.  There is literally nothing more magical than walking around the Columbus Zoo during Christmas time.  Sometimes Austin and I don't want to go out in the cold though, so an alternative to this date night idea would be to order out a pizza and bring a couple sodas and eat pizza and drive through a light tour.  My family has had this tradition for years and though I still do it with them every year, I enjoy getting to do it twice!  :)
  • Date Idea 3:  AMC's dine in theater and Christmas shopping.  Okay, I've never been to one of AMC's dine in theaters, but they're becoming sort of common here in Columbus and I've been dying to go to the one at Easton Town Center and follow it up with some Christmas shopping - or vice versa!  During the warmer months, Austin and I like to grill out, grab dinner on the patio at a restaurant, go putt-putt, and so on.  So when winter comes, it really limits our date night ideas, but going to the movies is always a great idea!... Especially if you can be served dinner and drinks while enjoying the film!  Also, if you live in the Columbus area, Easton is all lit up with Christmas lights and basically, it feels like you're in a Christmas village full of great shopping!  Make shopping less stressful and help one another out with finding gifts for friends and family.

If you want to go all out, I suppose you could do all of these things in a single day - but I like to spread them out over a few days so you can have more time to relax and actually take in all the time spent with your significant other.  Or hey, if you want to do this with your friends, that works too!  xo Ali Bee
