Holy moly - Halloween is next week! This candy and costume filled holiday has quickly approached this year and my fiancé, Austin, and I still have yet to decide on a costume. I promised myself I'd be on top of it this year after all the trouble we had last year from not being prepared - we were late to Highball and our face paint was practically melting off our faces all night - did you know you're supposed to use powder to set it in?.. DUH Ali! So you could say I'm kicking myself right now for not keeping my own promise to myself!
It's been a bit of a battle for Austin and I on deciding what to dress up as this year. I did my research on day of the dead makeup, so I'm willing to give last year's costume a go again this year. He's all for the Milkman and the pregnant 50's housewife costume, but already being a curvy girl, I'm not sure if I want to add in a fake baby bump! I suppose the housewife doesn't HAVE to be pregnant - and I wouldn't mind dressing up in some 50's flare. Plus, we've also got all these other fun yet super SIMPLE costume ideas. Since we practically already act like we're married - you know we're not going to be able to decide on our own! We need your help! Come on... scroll through these creative DIY Halloween costume ideas and let us know what you'd like to see us dressed up as this year. :)
Austin's top pick! It's super adorable and humorous. And I've never seen anyone go this route before! Now, where can I find some cat eye glasses? Loving those.
Austin's my own personal Pillsbury Dough Boy already! :) I bet he could find this costume at the costume shop and unfortunately I don't have a red dress, but I could probably find one easily! Seems simple enough...
These are more of the cutesy costumes, but also probably the cheapest of them all! Super easy and adorable, but I don't want us to look like we're in high school either. Hmmmm...
Ahhhaa, as Lauren Conrad said, there's a reason the ghost costume is an oldie but a goodie! Always creepy and about as simple as sprinkling some baking soda all over you. Seriously though, practically all we would need is an outfit that we already have in our closet or that we can find at the thrift shop (old night gown, dress, vintage suit, etc), some extra fair foundation or even a white powdered eyeshadow, and some baking soda! Or I could go the more "classy" route, like Lauren did here, and dress up a t-shirt or tank with tulle and a sparkly statement necklace while Austin could dump a bunch of baking soda on an old suit from the thrift shop!
So, these are what I've narrowed it down to! I had so many more ideas, but only having 3 days to prepare a costume for Highball - I decided these options were likely the most doable! Ahhhh, now we need your help! Come on, let us know in the comments below. What should we be this year? Should we do over our day of the dead costume from last year or should Austin start looking for a dough boy costume? ;) I love all 6 of these options and am dying to know which ones are your favorites. Vote down in the comments below on what you'd like to see us dressed up as!
Also, I hope that all of you procrastinators out there got some ideas for your own costume this year. If you're still struggling, always be sure to check out Pinterest for inspiration! And don't be afraid to get creative. :)
